A Crafty Sort of Day...

Today is one of those days that feel really good. I started out the day by getting crafty and it has led to making soup, posting on my very new blog and next I'm going to whip up some homemade bread. How's that for productive? Plus I'm getting together with some friends tonight to knit...you'd think I was 80 years old...but that's okay, I like the domestic side of life.

This morning I was waiting for my English student to show up, but she didn't. Normally, I'd feel a little grumpy about it (I've always been super anal about being on time and hold it against anyone who doesn't)but I decided to get out my sewing machine instead. Unfortunately, I don't have a dedicated craft room or table where I can leave my machine set up, so sometimes just getting it out is a feat in and of itself. It had to be done though since I volunteered my modest sewing skills to spiff up the playground at Sadie's school and our open house is on Friday! So finally I made some cute frog curtains for the playhouse this morning before taking Sadie to school. Last Saturday a whole bunch of fantastic parents came to school and cleaned, organized, planted flowers and the like. Seeing as how my knee is still on the mend, I offered to do something a little more sedentary. Here are a few photos of the project and the BH playground:

Following the workday at school, we packed up and headed to Tahoe where Sadie continued to hone her downhill skills. She's now on the lift and next lesson gets to add poles...watch out everyone! She's super proud of her accomplishments, as am I. Brings a tear to my eye to see my baby ski down the hill and hop on the lift without any assistance. Hard to believe she's so big.

It's a big commitment to go up to Tahoe every other weekend, but it's worth it to see her having so much fun...actually, I think it's Mark that's having the most fun. He actually declined to go snowboarding at a more challenging resort so that he could stay and ski with Sadie. If you know my adrenaline-crazed husband at all, you know how surprising that is! He's a great dad though, so I guess it's understandable.
